Item Details:
Select 308L is a bare stainless steel wire electrode for gas metal arc welding. This electrode has a nominal composition of 20% Cr, 10% Ni and 0.4% Si, with a maximum carbon content of 0.03%. The low carbon in this alloy minimizes carbide precipitation and makes it more resistant to intergranular corrosion.The strength of the weld deposit is less than niobium stabilized alloys or the higher carbon alloys at elevated temperatures.
Applications
- Select 308L is well suited to weld base metals of similar composition, in particular, Type 304.
- Typical applications include the welding of parts for chemical, paper, textile, and pharmaceutical industries, food service equipment, and auto exhaust parts.
