Construction Vest

Construction Vest Standards:

As a safety measure people who work in a construction-like field have to wear a construction vest. Safety is always the number one concern when working. A construction vest is an article of clothing that construction workers wear. It is high visibility clothing that is reflective as well, so everyone can be easily seen while working in high danger areas. Determining what kind of construction vest you may need may become a little confusing with all of the different type and specifications that are out there.

There is a standard out there called ANSI that is used. ANSI has developed five classes that your vest should fall into, according to where you are working.

Requirements:

Class 1: 217 square inches of visible fluorescent background material, usually orange or lime yellow, and 1555 square inches of visible reflective material.

Class PSV: 450 square inches of visible fluorescent background, usually orange or lime yellow and 201 square inches of visible reflective material.

Class 2: 775 square inches of visible fluorescent background material usually orange or lime yellow and 201 square inches of visible reflective material.

Class 3: 1240 square inches of visible fluorescent background material usually orange or lime yellow and 310 square inches of visible reflective material.

Class 4: 465 square inches of visible fluorescent background material, usually orange or lime yellow and 108 square inches of visible reflective material. Class E garments are either shorts or pants that are made to be worn with a class 2 or 3 garment.

Knowing these classes is very important when working in the construction field. To know which class you fall under you should ask your boss so that you know which one to buy. You want to be 100% sure that you are following the safety rules 100% of the time.

Construction vests can be bought in a variety of different styles so you do get some choice of how they look at least a little bit.

Again construction vests should always be worn while on a construction site. Safety is always the number one priority to keep everyone safe. You want people to be able to see you while working. This means wearing a high visibility vest that falls under the ANSI standards.
